I finished reading "the Gunslinger", which wasn't to bad by me. Has anyone else read the whole series? _________________ SCM

I read the first three, but lost interest after that. The first one was phenomenal, though. _________________ Freakin' Meow!

That's what I was afraid of.
I was reading some reviews here and it sounds like it gets pretty far out there.... _________________ SCM

One thing I really got into was the gunslinger looking like Clint Eastwood in the Dollars Trilogy. I really dug that. Also the opening was really griping, just excellent. _________________ SCM

I enjoyed when he went into the town and was getting all "friendly" with his lady-friend (forgive the broad strokes here as it's been some time since I read it) and then the entire town comes after him, including her. Yowza! _________________ Freakin' Meow!

Maybe I read wrong but I was under the impression that he killed her on reflex. The guy who's wrist he broke was holding her hostage and someone flinched, after that he just reacted on trained impulse. I'll have to reread that section. _________________ SCM

I lost interest shortly into the fourth. I found book 2 to be the high point of the three I read in full.
I know people who say the 4th is the best book of the series, so I will probably get back to re-reading the first three, and onwards. Or at least, give it another try at some point. _________________ And what is good, Phaedrus, and what is not good?

Yeah, I like the dollars triligy too. Tell me- did the Gunslinger end on a cliffhanger? (I only ask becuase If I read a boook or see a movie with that kind of ending I feel I'm obligated to read the next one) _________________ I'm a Sole Man.

I've only read the first one and I got the feeling that the end was one of those things where it could have stopped had it been a one shot deal/not sold well but King had left room for expansion, intentionally or not. There are a few things I want answers to that he left unexplained.
Also, from what I've read on Wiki, the copy I have is an older one and has things which King later changed. I.E: Roland is reading a magazine in Tull when he first arrives and accourding to Wiki King had that bit removed due to it being an inconsitancy with a later fact that paper is a scarce item in that world.
I'm hoping to get my new computer this weekend and probably won't have the money to buy any more books, so I'll have to wait to find out those answers:( _________________ SCM

Keep reading the series, your right the first 3 are the best, but the series finishes out quite nicely. His best work I think along with The Green Mile and The Stand. _________________ However you live, however you die, eternity does not care, you continue on.

I read all of them, but the only ones I enjoyed were The Gunslinger and The Wastelands. I disliked the others. I guess I just kept hoping they would improve.
