Hey Bryon. Does BH or KJA know any body in Hollywood who is a director and is a huge Dune fan(on the level of us)? Or maybe one of there(BH/KJA) agents, managers, friends... I would like to know just whom, that person is.

So one I can see what there record is. and two, maybe I can use my never used, probably wouldn't work anyway, but I could try if I had a good person to talk to, to persuade I guess or to encourage, who knows(with BH/KJA backing or encouragement). But I think that try could be cool if I could. I have a 3rd cousin who is married to a famous director in Hollywood, awesome.(never really knew the person{cousin} but this person is family and who knows). I am a friendly guy. Very Happy and if I had a mission, I think I could pull it off, I really want Dune to succeed. Like Peter Jackson, with LOTR. Even though some things were changed, some things missing, it was still a very good effort. That is what is needed for Dune to be successful. and I just want Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, to also believe in that and make it happen, it has to. It is written.

Thank you for reading that long plea.

They have had meetings with certain people in the Hollywood fold, but none that I'd say they were close to ...or close enough to to do something like you say.

Hollywood is a ...strange town. Wink

Not necessarily they are really good friends with the director, but if they just happen to know a director who is also a true Dune fan, even if it's someone that isn't really known to them, like someone there friends know or there agents or managers know or have heard about.

I believe you that Hollywood is a ...strange town, makes sense to me. I'm strange to, but seriously, I was just wondering if they've even heard of a director, not even someone they have to know, someone even like, my friends, cousin, sisters, brother knows this guy, kind of thing. I'm serious about this. I love to have the chance to even just say high to this guy(my 3rd cousin by marriage) so I could tell him about this project, and see what happens, when a fanatic intellectual true passionate, conversation occurs. I would set my self on this mission, if I knew who I could be talking about. Take your time with an answer, like my latest Dreamer of Dune question. I want to help and I might be able to but w/o a mission frankly I'm to much of a respectful non Hollywood person to try and talk to a big Hollywood guy. But with a mission?

The last I heard, del Toro was in New Zealand, directing "The Hobbit", with Peter Jackson acting as Producer. I'm not sure if even del Toro can pull off directing both films at once.

That's what I heard, too. I'm sure he's super-busy with his list of directing responsibilities already.

Byron, is it possible to delay things so that someone with a free schedule can do this film ?! Shocked Laughing

I hope you were joking about Jonze. Not too sure anyone would be thrilled having a produceer from JACKASS THE MOVIE working on DUNE. Although I'm kind of excited to see what he did with WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE.

Why not? Everyone starts somewhere, even something as juvenile as JACKASS. I mean we had a guy who did low-budget splatter flicks and then went on to create one of the greatest cinematic trilogies of all time. Plus, like Jackson he did some critically acclaimed work like Being John Malkovich and Adaptation(Cage's best acting if you ask me.)

Plus, i'm sure he always wanted to direct a space epic. He almost directed Attack of the Clones until Lucas changed his mind.

Plus I can't wait for WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE. When the preview for this showed up, the kids ate it up at my theater which is quite wonderful since it's not a SHREK type of film.

True. But I'm curious as to why Lucas changed his mind about him, too. You're right, of course, about having to start somewhere.

You think maybe they gave up and decided not to do it at all, given all the controversy in a remake???

I doubt it. But who can know the thinking of those in Hollyweird. Personally I think they're just being cautious with the economy in the tank and all...

they need to take a page from Dune, greatness comes from the desert, that is the economy is the Desert, they can't be afraid, they must respect it and learn from it.
